For a reporter, the key to a good interview is knowing what you want, and how to
get it. For a news programme editor, the important thing is to make sure that
the interviewee has been carefully selected, and the designated reporter
well-prepared.
This Checklist was developed by journalists, journalism professors and diversity advisers at a workshop at Carleton University in June, 1995. It contains tips for beat and general reporters, desk and assignment editors, and for senior management.
